COLBERT NOURRICE

COLBERT NOURRICE

One of the most important artists of Seychelles islands, works on his paintings in his studio on the island of Mahé as well as all over the world at international Artists Symposions.
His paintings of strong personality are combining todays elements with traditional african influence. They tell a story in reduced figural compositions about Seychelles living and working and give a magical impression in their professional scale of colours.
Invitations to different Art-Symposions in Europe make it possible to see the artist and this exhibition in Vienna.

Wilhelmshaven/Germany August 2009

Samstag, 01. August 2009

For ten days, four artists from Seychelles, along with four others from Germany and Spain, participated in the first Symposium of International Artists in the German city of Wilhelmshaven, demonstrating the way they work and exhibiting their artworks.

The symposium, entitled “Distant Shores: Europe Meets Seychelles” was followed by an exhibition, which opened on August 16.  Both events, running from August 16 to September 20, have been initiated and organized by local artist, Mr. Hartmut Evers, who had taught art in the Seychelles from 1984 to 1990 and has his own studio on La Digue Island.

The four Seychellois artists – Allen Ernesta, Colbert Nourrice, Egbert Marday and Leon Radegonde – and their colleagues Manuel Sáenz-Messia from Spain, and Gerd Breidenstein, Hartmut Evers, and Andreas Neumann from Germany – worked under one roof in an “open studio” in the Wattenmeerhaus, where visitors were able to watch them at work.

Seychellois artists bring warmth and colours to Paris to mark Seychelles National Day
Posted by on Tuesday, 30 June 2009

Anyone walking in the Air Seychelles office in Paris between now and end of July will be welcomed by an array of colours and will not miss Lady Lili Freminot sitting majestically in the entrance hall.

Lady Lilli, a papier maché sculpture, forms part of an art exhibition organised in Paris last month and which featured 12 Seychellois artists.

The exhibition was organised by Air Seychelles in collaboration with L’Alliance Française to mark the Seychelles’ National Day on June 18.

A first event – a vernissage – was held on June 16 for the press and media.

It was an occasion for Air Seychelles and the Seychelles Tourist Office director in France, Bernadette Willemin to highlight their promotional activities undertaken during the first half of the year and to keep the press and media abreast of the latest developments in the industry.

This activity was followed by an exhibition-cum-cocktail for the trade and clients on June 18.

Artists Brighten Up London

Eden Island is adding a splash of colour to London this month by sponsoring the Pro-Art Artist Group in a first ever collective art exhibition outside of the Seychelles.

„Colours of Eden“ is an occasion for eight prominent Seychelles artists to showcase their unique talents and inspiration to an appreciative audience. From impressionistic to abstract visions of the Seychelles, its people and its culture, the artists play with lines, colours, motives and symbolism in its various forms, fashioning art through a cross section of media – from sculptures to paintings.

Recognised artists Jude Ally, Christine Chetty, Colbert Nourrice, Allen Ernesta, Egbert Marday, Steve Marie, Danny Sopha and Charles Dodo will be exhibiting at the Royal Commonwealth Society, 25 Northumberland Avenue, London WC2N 5AP between 19 March and 18 April 2008. Admission is free.
